Community Impact Report
The Community Impact Report for the Fiesta Bowl was a really special project. As Fiesta Bowl is a nonprofit, the work it does year-round is incredibly important to showcase to the community and partners.
the problem
As a non-profit, the Fiesta Bowl needed a way to showcase its year-round community impact to partners and donors in a way that felt significant and lasting. The challenge was twofold:
- Budget & Engagement: Working within non-profit budget constraints while needing something more creative and tactile than a standard annual report.
- Shelf Life: Past reports often felt like "just another book." The goal was to transform a data-heavy document into an "artful display piece" that partners would actually want to keep on their desks or office shelves.
the solution
I designed a multi-layered print experience that prioritized brand personality and tactile discovery.
- The "Pop" of Color: I created a vibrant, cheerful book cover that fully embodied the Charities' brand. To balance this brightness with a sophisticated exterior, I built a custom white outer sleeve.
- The Sunburst Cutout: On the right side of the sleeve, I added a precision die-cut of the organization’s logo (the sunburst). This served as a window, allowing the colorful book to "peek through" and enticing the viewer to pull the report out of its housing.
- Subtle Branding: To keep the focus on the artful sunburst, I used a clear aqueous coating for the title of the book on the sleeve. This made the text legible through texture and light reflection without distracting from the bold visual of the cutout.
- The Result: The final piece functioned as much as a brand artifact as it did a report, ensuring the Fiesta Bowl’s impact remained top-of-mind for its most important partners.
