This client came to me from a group in Portland. She was frustrated because her web developer search was not yielding her the help she needed.
the problem
The client came to me wonderful but frustrated. She had been quoted thousands of dollars by other agencies for what was ultimately a small website. More critically, these providers insisted on a predatory model where she would be entirely dependent on them for future edits, page additions, or design adjustments. She was facing a double barrier: high upfront costs and a complete lack of long-term ownership.
Furthermore, she had a distinct creative vision that standard solutions couldn’t meet. She needed a site that was:
- Anti-Template: It absolutely couldn't look "templatey" or generic.
- Human & Authentic: It needed to feel unique, personable, engaging, and warm, avoiding any "AI-made" or sterile aesthetic.
- Thematically Defined: It had to weave in a strong Pacific Northwest theme to align with her consultancy's brand.
the solution
I provided a complete “Creative & Empowerment” solution, focusing equally on bespoke design and client autonomy.
- Custom PNW Creative: I designed a completely bespoke website from scratch, rejecting standard templates to create a visual language that was uniquely hers. I built a rich, personable aesthetic using a warm color palette, custom graphics, and integrated imagery (like mist-covered evergreen forests and mountain silhouettes) that perfectly captured the Pacific Northwest theme she desired, ensuring the site felt human-centric and engaging, not sterile or "AI-made."
- Total Client Empowerment: The project was complete upon launch, but I ensured it was built on a user-friendly platform specifically so she could manage it. As part of the project scope, I conducted a thorough, personalized training session with her after launch. This training ensured she was completely confident making edits, creating new pages, and adjusting the design on her own, freeing her from any future maintenance contracts.
- Result: The result is a distinct, beautiful, and "untemplatey" website that the client truly loves.
